In this week’s episode, we chat with Clay from the No Kid Hungry campaign from Share our Strength. The No Kid Hungry campaign connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. The campaign also engages the public to make ending child hunger a national priority. Unbeknownst to many, roughly 13 million kids in the United States live in homes where it is a struggle to provide adequate food.
Through the work of the No Kid Hungry campaign, launched in 2010, Share our Strength has been able to help deliver 500 million meals to children who need them the most. Clay touches on the importance of finding a solution for childhood hunger versus providing a temporary band-aid approach and the utmost importance for citizens to become advocates that fight for a change. The No Kid Hungry campaign works to provide hunger solutions in communities across our country and also mpowers low-income families to stretch their food budgets so their kids get healthy meals at home. Cooking Matters participants learn to shop strategically, use nutrition information to make healthier food choices, and cook delicious, affordable meals.
Through our conversation, it becomes clear that together, we can end childhood hunger. Join us and get involved today by clicking on the ACT or DONATE tab here on 52 Reasons.
