The Scholar Match mission is to make college possible for underserved youth by matching students with donors, resources, colleges, and professional networks. Founded in 2010 by author, Dave Eggers, Scholar Match has grown rapidly from serving just 39 students to more than 500 students each year.
In this episode we chat with Diana and Piper from Scholar Match, as we learn more about the Scholar Match model, where they combine an innovative crowdfunding based scholarship program with mentorship. What can be a hard-to-navigate college admissions process, Scholar Match removes many of the barriers for low-income youth to become a first-generation college student. Scholar Match focuses on building a community to support each and every student – providing both college coaching as well as career coaching for students coming from families that typically make $25,000 per year or less.
This was an exciting conversation providing many opportunities for listeners to get involved – ranging from donating to support a student to being a college or career coach.
